TMD & Dental Sleep Medicine-A System for Dx and Tx - Session 1 of 3

In this comprehensive 6 day, 3 session course, doctors will learn a system for triage of structural injuries, obstructive sleep apnea and systemic inflammatory conditions. This system will assist in understanding the proper steps and protocols for patient treatment to achieve reproducible results. Upon completion of this course, you will be able to diagnose and treat TM Dysfunction and Sleep Disorders. All forms and documentation (patient intake, clinical exam, tracking and billing) will be supplied to successfully treat patients.

Session 1 covers:

* Functional anatomy of the TMJ
* Neuro-anatomy
* Electro modalities for diagnosis and objective evaluation of treatment
* Clinical examination
* The process of neurotransmission
* Muscles of the head and neck
* Radiology
* Demonstration of neurologic examination
* Phonetic bite registrations
* Advanced radiographic interpretation

Session 2 covers:

* Basic concepts of pain
* Accu-Liner
* Principles of pharmacology
* Headaches
* Anesthetic diagnostic/therapeutic injection blocks
* Recapturing discs
* Radiology
* Indications and contraindications for various types of splints
* How to translate the bite registration to the Accu-Liner and finalize the bite
* Pharmacology
* Working with other professionals
* Case presentations
* Sleep Disorders

Session 3 covers:

* Differential diagnosis of various craniomandibular disorders
* Arthrocentesis
* Physical therapy modalities
* Exercises for the TMD patient
* Differential diagnosis ascending/descending problems
* How to build a TMD/orofacial/pain practice
* How to go from Phase I rehabilitation to Phase II permanent stabilization
* T-scan (computerized evaluation for timing and force of occlusion)
* Relationship between orthodontics and TMJ
* Case presentations
