“After attending many courses in Craniomandibular Disorders over the past 2 years, the ‘Olmos Mini Residency’ would have to be the most comprehensive and intellectually fascinating way to learning to treat TMD that I have ever seen.   Dr. Olmos presents his lectures and practical demonstrations in a manner that makes TMD both easy and enjoyable to learn, whilst also providing his wealth of experience and sharing of scientific data on this complex area of dentistry.”

Dr. Tony Eldridge

“I have attended numerous TMD courses/seminars here and in the USA over the years.  Two men, Dr. Barry Glassman and Dr. Steve Olmos, have gained my respect for their dedication, passion, and commitment to helping their long suffering patients and for communicating this information to dental practitioners around the world.  Dr. Olmos’ course held in 2004 was intensive but due the quality of the manuals, presentation, and logical sequencing of topics, it was easy to follow.  What Dr. Olmos taught was thoroughly researched, backed up by evidence, and is what he practices everyday.  This is a course I would recommend to anyone dealing with temporomandibular dysfunction.”

Dr. James Douglass
Brisbane, Qld

“Pity I didn’t learn this years ago!  Moreover, I have started to try and look deeper into this myself and find that Steve’s course is so comprehensive that, if I just learn his material, that is a very good grounding in Cranio-facial pain.  Excellent course.  Still reading and re-reading the course manuals.”

Dr. David Zimmerman

“I have been treating patients with Temporo-mandibular Disorders since 1980.  During that time, I have learned from most of the best known, and most knowledgeable experts in the field from all over the world.  This year, I spent nine of the most valuable days in my career with Steve Olmos.  Steve has put together the best of the best, to provide today’s definitive course on the diagnosis and treatment of TMDs.

Steve teaches the neurology and physiology of pain, and specifically, headache pain.  He discusses the differential diagnoses of headaches, so that one can distinguish between those headaches which are in the realm of dentistry, and those which are not.  The all-important area of pharmacology is covered in a manner which makes it easy to understand, and to select the correct medication for the specific situation.

The choice of oral orthotic for the treatment of joints and muscles is distilled into a simple selection, and the use of neuromuscular techniques to find the best craniomandibular relationship for treatment is taught in a simple and effective manner.

Steve is one of the most knowledgeable and entertaining teachers I have had the privilege of meeting.  I came out of his ‘mini-residency’ with a wealth of information, both academic and clinical, and was able to simplify the procedures that I have been using for well over twenty years.”

Steve, Thank you for a great year in the residency. It has
definitely changed the way I see people and my patients. We are
making it happen in our office in our way. I'll always need further
advice as I proceed down this path so keep the forum open. You've
been an excellent mentor.

Dr Olmos’ Three Session Mini-Residency offers the knowledge and clinical tools necessary to successfully diagnose, treat, and stabilize TMD.  In the Advanced TMD Residency that knowledge is put to practical use on everyday cases; not the cherry picked, slam-dunk cases but rather the ones that walk through your door everyday.  The round style format provides ample opportunity to witness, perform and most important, question state-of-the-art TMD treatment.  No other course has done more to improve my
skills, boost my confidence, and change my practice than Dr. Olmos’ Mini-Residency/Advanced TMD Residency tandem.

I would like to thank Dr. Olmos for all the time and commitment to teaching us this past year.  The focus on problem solving and the techniques taught were invaluable.  My patients are getting better, my office is more streamlined and I am more excited than ever to be treating TMD.  I really enjoyed diagnosing and treatment planning the patients in Dr. Olmos’s office and following them as they improved.  Learning how to read and understand a patient’s history as well as to see what was missing was very helpful in diagnosing them at each visit.  I was able to continue to build upon the information given in the 3-part course and see how it was all interrelated.  The structure of the residency was great with the lecture in the morning, followed by patients and then discussion.  I thank Dr. Olmos for being available to answer our questions and help us think through our dilemmas.  In addition, your staff was very professional, friendly and knowledgeable.  I would highly recommend the residency to anyone who is serous about treating TMD.

I have previously started TMD and treatment modalities from some well known doctors.  I felt pretty comfortable with my knowledge and abilities at that point.  Since I have been involved with Dr. Olmos’s study club (Advanced TMD Residency) I have taken my knowledge and skills to a level 2 to 3 times higher from my previous level.  It was a tremendous experience to have the theory combined with a practical hands on approach of real TMD patients.  Dr. Olmos is a modern time “pioneer” in the field of TMD.  He has studied crainofacial pain from several different vantage points and formulated a system which ensures a very high success rate.  I would recommend this program to the doctors of the world who strive for excellence and are looking to raise the bar in there practice.

Dr. Olmos’ Advanced TMD Residency course is a “must” for those who really want to concentrate on treating TMD patients.  Dr. Olmos has the enthusiasm in teaching attending doctors.  He also simplified his technique in diagnosis and treatment.  Each attending doctor has plenty of opportunities in treating real patients with Dr. Olmos’ technique which really helps in learning.

Dr. Olmos’ Mini-Residency course gives you the plans to build your rocket ship; the Advanced TMD Residency is the instructions on how to fly it.  If you are going to practice TMJ therapy no matter how limited or extensive, take this course.  It’s the new standard of care.

I initially took Dr. Olmos’s TMD Mini-Residency nine day course in Sarasota, Florida in the fall of 2002 and spring of 2003 on the advice of Dr. Brock Rondeau.  In the summer of 2003 Dr. Olmos offered to the graduates of the TMD Mini-Residency lecture series the opportunity to see the applications of this knowledge on patients in his practice.  This consisted of one day every month for 12 months.  This allowed us to see the patient’s progress in their healing.  Dr. Olmos also had Dr. Jeff Mersky (chiropractor) at these clinical sessions.  It became very apparent of the need of a team approach to get the patient their (M.M.I.) maximum medical improvement. This combination of hear, see and do is the only way to develop the confidence to take on this very complex field of dentistry.  The more you learn the more you become aware of its complexity and its relationship to whole body posture (cranio-sacral) and the neurology associated with the total system.

Doctor Olmos is extremely knowledgeable and a skilled practitioner in the art of pain management and TMJ therapy.  His course has given me the tools to know who and when to treat, shortened my treatment time, and improved my results tremendously.   I appreciated the time and organization Steve and his staff dedicated into pioneering this unique approach. This course offers a customized short lecture in the morning, hours of hands on training with live patients, followed by a review of the cases seen that day in a group discussion.  This study club will transform you from a nuts and bolts tooth carpenter into a dental physician as it raises your standard of care.
